The 13U Forest Hills Indians are ready for their spring season with Hot Stove Baseball, and are expected to do even bigger things in 2016. The Indians—coming off a 41-11 record last year—have grown as a team this offseason, working on speed, strength, and team unity. To go with growing their baseball skills, all 14 of the Forest Hills Indians have naturally grown and are becoming great ballplayers in their own right.
Team chemistry, pitching and defense are three strong points for this team. Each player knows their strengths and weaknesses, and look to motivate each other every time they step on the field. The Indians have a strong pitching rotation led by Jaime Barrios, followed by younger lefty Richie Solomon. The always tough Bobby Mark will look to eat up some innings in 2016, along with Thomas LaPinta who looked great this offseason. Justin Montalvo, Ethan Weintraub, Brenly Nivar and Peter Hountas will look to take the hill this year with great success. The team’s defense is what Coach Erik Peck stresses on. If he had to point out one player who leads the team on the defense, it is Richie Solomon—excellent infielder, as well as outfielder who is very fast and has a strong arm.
Jaime Barrios did most of the slugging for Forest Hills last season, smacking 10 home-runs for the Indians. Other players who went yard include Brenly Nivar, Bobby Mark, and Richie Solomon.
Coach Peck isn’t just proud of his players for their skills or the way they play the game, but for each and every child striving in school. Education is key for Coach Peck, and having good grades is his main focus. One word to describe this team is family—this team has a bond that could never be broken and they all enjoy playing together.
The 13U Indians visit the Ronald McDonald House at least 2-3 times per year, delivering gifts, food, books, and toys to the patients and their families.  They also participate in various cancer walks and events to help find a cure.
Which MLB team does the 13U Forest Hills Indians resemble most? The Chicago Cubs. Which team will be the toughest team to beat? “Themselves,” says Coach Peck. “We can sometimes be our biggest enemy,” he finished.
Look out for the Forest Hills Indians in 2016.
