The Hot Stove League is a new baseball league on Long Island. This is a team that plays in the league this summer.
The Wantagh Hawks were founded in the summer of 2010 as an 8u team. At the time, Wantagh Little League did not have a travel program. A few coaches got together and organized a tryout to select a team that would compete locally. In that first year they finished with a winning record. The Wantagh Hawks now have eight travel teams ranging in age from 8u to 12u, competing in leagues and tournaments both on local and national levels.
For the current 12u team, their accomplishments include an NJBL Summer League Championship in 2012 and a Glynn Kenny Fall Tournament Championship in 2013.
In the summer of 2013, they traveled to Cooperstown which gave the boys a memrable experience. The Hawks had the time of their lives in Cooperstown Dreams Park and competed admirably against older, more experienced teams.
In 2014, they will be traveling to Myrtle Beach to participate in the Cal Ripken 12u Wave Rider Tournament.
In the Spring, the 7th grade boys became eligible to tryout for the middle school team. Seven of ballplayers attended the tryouts, and all of them made it.
The players on the team have grown together from the time they were young boys. They have begun to learn life lessons such as teamwork, perseverance, competitiveness, commitment, and leadership. They have formed strong bonds with each other.
