An in-depth look at some of Long Island's top High School coaches

Although we are filled with anticipation to watch the players perform on the field, we simply cannot continue this preview without showing some support to the men in the dugout who keep these guys ready for action. It takes just about everything you have to be a successful Head Coach here on Long Island. The passion for the sport these men have displayed is simply unparalleled. Through strong relationships with their players and plenty of preparation, these men have earned their respect in the dugout. Here now are just a few of the top coaches on Long Island, along with a bit of their personal achievements:

Newsday Coach of the Year, 5x Nassau County  Coach of the Year, 16x Nassau Conference Coach of the Year. 17 year career record of 360-83. 2 New York State titles in 2002 & 2005, 3 L.I. Titles in 2002, 2005 and 2009, and 5 Nassau County titles in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2013.

2016 Conference AAII champions. 2015 Conference AAII Varsity Coach of the Year.

Garden City High School


655 career wins. 3 sportsmanship awards presented by Nassau County Umpires association

Doug Robbins

Levittown Division High School

Bill Murphy

Mepham High School


11 years coaching at Mepham. 100 plus wins. 3 times coach of the year.

Helms Bohringer

Mineola High School


20 years as coach of Mineola. Reached the 200 win milestone in 2015. 3 time Conference Coach of the Year. Three times part of the Nassau Suffolk High School Baseball All Star Game Coach.

Scott Lineman

North Shore High School


4 straight league titles and two straight Nassau County Finals appearances. 2015: 21 wins and only 4 loses.

John Givargidze

Plainview Old Bethpage


10 years coaching. This will be his third year as Head Coach at Plainview-Old Bethpage.
