The Youth Academy Highlanders 14u ballclub is one of the reason why we play this sport today. This accelerated facility targets kids who are less fortunate financially than the children living under parents with average incomes; fortunately, MLB sponsors this NYC-ran program, giving every children the opportunity to play and pursuit for the dream to play baseball. This organization features approximately 180 youth athletes and also provides an 18u girls softball team. On top of that, many D-1 schools — Rutgers University, Sullivan College, Dominican College, SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Purchase, and many more — have come out to spectate their games and have offered abundant amounts of scholarships since these kids cannot afford to pay off the tuition.

With the help of MLB, attracting several scouts to observe these ambitious athletes, there are many notable players who got noticed and gave them more opportunities to further their dreams. Some of the recognizable athletes include Ieury Tejada (a shortstop drafted out of high school), Justin Rodriguez (George Washington HS), Dan Pero, and Ronald Angeles (a shortstop from Bayside HS who got cut in the Team USA Baseball Team tryouts in California). The primary facilities that have trained these promising, young athletes are Manhattan DREAM and Harlem RVI. Their vision is to reinforce the less fortunate children and giving them the free chance to play out their favorite sport. They hope to send these kids off to college with the much financial aid they can receive possible by accelerating their skills into the game.

Many high schools in the area have taken notice in this motivating program. Rising stars have been made through this organization, and hopefully many more will come and shock the baseball universe. This prestigious prep school has created many opportunities for these kids, thus rapidly finding success from the training afterwards.
